Product Description

Calcium citrate is the calcium salt of citric acid. It is commonly used as a food additive (E333), usually as a preservative, but sometimes for flavor. In this   sense, it is similar to sodium citrate. Calcium citrate is also used as a   water softener because the citrate ions can chelate unwanted metal ions.  Calcium citrate is also found in some dietary calcium supplements (e.g. Citracal). Calcium makes up 21% of calcium citrate by weight.    


Application

1 Preservative: Calcium citrate is used as a   preservative in food processing, helping to prevent spoilage and extend the   shelf life of foods.
2 Acidity Regulator: It can regulate the acidity of food products,   maintaining the desired pH level for optimal taste and texture.
3 Anti-caking Agent: In powdered or granulated products, calcium citrate   acts as an anti-caking agent, preventing clumping and improving   flowability.
4 Nutritional Supplement: Used as a source of calcium, it can be added to   foods to enhance their nutritional value.
5 Flavoring Agent: Calcium citrate contributes to the flavor profile of   certain foods, adding a slight sour taste that can complement other   flavors.
6 Stabilizer: In some processed foods, it helps to stabilize ingredients   during manufacturing and storage.
7 Mineral Fortification: It is sometimes used in mineral fortification of   foods, such as in infant formula or dietary supplements, to provide   additional calcium.
8 Dairy Alternatives: In plant-based dairy alternatives like soy milk,   calcium citrate can be added to match the calcium content of dairy   milk.
9 Beverage Production: It can be used in the production of soft drinks and   juices to adjust acidity and enhance flavor.
10 Meat Processing: In meat processing, it may have applications in curing   or as a sequestering agent to improve the texture and quality of the final   product.
